Moshe lived in a hostel for apprentices in Budapest. After the German invasion of Hungary on 19.3.1944, he was enlisted in a forced labor unit. Moshe ran away and arrived at the “Glass House” on Vadász Street. He returned to the hostel where a forgery laboratory was being organized. Arrow Cross men broke in, interrogated him, broke his nose and beat him until he became unconscious. When he regained consciousness, Moshe succeeded in escaping and reaching the movement’s center.
He patrolled the town’s streets wearing a uniform of the National Guard whose role it was to protect public buildings. More than once he and his friends were able to release Jews who had been arrested by the fascists or were being led to their death.
Moshe made aliya.
